Who We Are

Siri Lamoureaux is Associate Professor of Anthropology at Emlyon Business School in Lyon, France. Drawing on linguistic anthropology and science and technology studies, she examines digital technologies in feminist and postcolonial activism. Her current research explores AI, focusing on bias & representation, reasoning & discovery, and changing practices of scientific expertise. She also investigates how large language models challenge established concepts and approaches within linguistics.

Anna Weichselbraun is a sociocultural and linguistic anthropologist affiliated with the University of Vienna. Her ethnographic research examines the intersections of language, technology, law, and expertise, with a particular focus on digital technologies and nuclear governance. Her current work explores how language ideologies shape the development, evaluation, and regulation of large language models. Michael Castelle is Associate Professor at the Centre of Interdisciplinary Methodologies at the University of Warwick. His research is at the intersection of science and technology studies, history of computing, and linguistic anthropology. He is interested in the use of sociological, anthropological, historical, and semiotic perspectives in recontextualizing and understanding contemporary technological practices, from databases and distributed systems to machine learning and artificial intelligence.
